Abide in Me

I am back to blogging after a few weeks break.

This is a sign I made for my wonderful son, Bryan.  I asked him to provide me with a few of his favourite Bible passages, and used this one for a gift to him.

The sign is hand painted on a raised panel made of pine strips edge-glued together.  The profile was made on my router, as you would for a raised panel door.  I painted the edges black to act as a frame.

The whole piece is 13 1/2" square, the flat inner part is 12" square.  The thickness is 5/8" and it has a sawtooth hanger on the back.

Bryan enjoyed his gift almost as much as I enjoyed making it and giving it to him!

A sign like this can be made for you, please contact me through my blog, or my email at

  1. Beautiful work! The detail is amazing. Stopping by from Setting for Four link party.

  2. I really like that, especially the way you painted the edge. Works perfectly for a frame.

  3. Julie,
I would be hard pressed to think of a more beautiful gift - full of wonderful meaning, made with a mother's love.

  4. Nicely done and such a good message. Thanks for sharing on beColorful.
