Golf Motif Routered Box

This is a box I made last week as a donation for a local golf course's tournament for seniors.

The box is poplar and joined at the corners with 1/4" box joints made on the tablesaw with a homemade jig.

I found the outline of a putting golfer online and printed it on my printer to the proper size to fit the box lid. I use carbon paper to transfer the design to the box. The wavy outline was just done free-hand.

The background is removed with a router.

The background was stained green.  The rest of the box was stained and then all was covered with a few coats of wipe-on poly.

I don't know who got it, but I hope he liked it!
